Dear ABC,

I hope and pray that you’ve had a good week.  I’m glad the bad weather didn’t materialize as predicted, and I’m sure you are too.

We had another good Sunday last week; we had a family join in the morning worship service, and I know everyone enjoyed the Courageous movie. This Sunday, I will share the second part of my message concerning the things we must do for our church. We each play a role and have a part. To the degree that we all do our share, great things happen; and to the degree that some of us slack off, Kingdom work goes undone.

The transition team continues to do their work. All is going well, and I encourage you to pay attention to the announcements concerning upcoming events. The questionnaires are coming back in, and they’re quite revealing.  As I look at them, I’m reminded of the old line, “Two Baptists = Three Opinions.”  I’m also reminded of how very hard it is to keep a congregation pulling together.

Everyone has opinions and advice on just about everything.  For some the building is too cold, for others it’s too hot. For some the ministries are great, for others they’re lacking. For some we meet too much and, for others, we don’t meet enough.  I could go on, but you get the picture.

All of these discussions are healthy.  After all, we (the transition team and I) did ask for your opinions. However, it does remind us that, in the end, no one person gets everything they want;  we must all give up a little, in order to keep our eyes entirely focused on the main things which are, “Jesus is Lord” and “We’re here to worship and serve Him!’  I’m confident you believe that, as well.

That’s all, for now.  See you next Sunday…weatherman says we’re in for a pretty day!!
